Episode I Tribute

It's been awhile since I posted anything. My sister was down for a visit, my cousin got married, there were quite a few birthdays and all of that sort of thing. Also, Ive been working a lot more since School let out. I've been busy applying to all sorts of jobs. Mostly I'm trying to get hired to do storyboards for an animation studio. However the need to support my family has driven me to consider all sorts of options. In the mean time summer is here and business at Knott's Berry Farm is alot better.

It's not easy to get people to sit for a caricature by talking to them. In fact approaching any person will automatically put their social defenses to work. That's the reason I draw stuff like this. A drawing of this kind will bring people to you making the sale many times easier.

I had a lot of fun quizzing kids with this drawing. I was impressed with how many of the character names they knew. Many of the older generation do not really get the newer STAR WARS films. The completely miss the fact that episodes 1 through 3 were made for the new generation and not for the old.

Of course if you take time creating the image it may actually cause people to come back later to see how you are doing. Getting someone to come ny your stand multiplt times is great because it allows them to gradually build up to the idea of buying a caricature.

Besides, drawing stuff like this is fun. It helps to keep your enthusiasm up. People are pretty good at recognising enthusiasm vs boredom. They can also see a salesman coming from a mile away. In any case artists easily fall into bad moods. We're kind of bipolar that way.
